Evaluation- question 2- how does your media product represent particular social groups ?

Posture:  The posture in both these images is quite similar. This is because they both show the artist standing straight and upright. Also there is no slouching in either image. However there is also a difference in posture in that in the picture of Holly that I took she looks a little bit more relaxed but in the image of Cheryl she does not look at all relaxed.

Gesture:  In both images the artists have similar gestures as they both are quite neutral and not really showing any specific feeling through their body language.  However they are a little bit different as Cheryl looks more happier whereas  Holly  looks more reserved. Also Cheryl portrays a sexy gesture. I know this because she has her hands on her hips.

Angle:  The angle used in both pictures is the same as they are both Eye level shots and show the artist looking straight down the camera lens. This angle is used so that the artist can look as if they are on the same level as us. Also using an Eye level shot means that we can relate easier to the person in the image.

Shot Type:  The shot type used in the two images in similar as they are both Long shots. However they are also slightly different because the image of Cheryl is slightly more zoomed in and focuses more on her top half. However the image of Holly that I took is a little more zoomed out and shows more of her legs as well as her top half.

Lighting: The lighting used in both images is quite similar as they are both quite bright to reflect the pop genre. However there is also differences. One difference is that in the image of Cheryl Cole it looks as though artificial lighting was used when this picture was taken to make it even brighter and I did not use any artificial lighting when taking my picture of Holly. As a result of this in comparison my picture looks darker than the one of Cheryl Cole.

Costume:  The costume used in both images is similar. This is because in both images the artists are wearing dresses that are of a very similar length. However there is also differences. One difference is that in my photo of Holly she is wearing a bright pink dress but in the image of Cheryl she is wearing a darker dress that is almost all black. Another difference is that in my image of Holly she is wearing cute duck earrings. However in the image of Cheryl she is not wearing any kind of earrings at all.

Expression: The expression used in both of these images are similar. This is because in both images the artist is smiling. However both images are different as well. This is because in the image I took Holly is smiling slightly whereas in the image of Cheryl Cole she has a full on smile on her face and looks very happy. Also in the image I took the smile is more natural but in the image of Cheryl Cole the smile is more posed and shows more teeth.

Hair:  The hair in both images is quite similar. This is because both artists have their hair looking quite neat and tidy. However there is also differences. One difference is that in the image I took Holly’s hair is red but in the image of Cheryl Cole her hair is brown. Also another difference is that Cheryl’s hair looks as though it has been styled professionally and Holly’s does not.  As well as this Cheryl’s hair has curls in it and Holly's does not. Moreover Cheryl’s hair is longer than holly’s. However despite these differences in both pictures the artist’s hair looks prim and proper and therefore suits the pop genre.
